It’s Monday and I’m really tired so how about we all just pretend that I’ve written something devastatingly witty and clever by way of an introductory paragraph to my weekend round-up post, and then get on with business. Yes? Yes.
Full disclosure I just tried to spell business with an “i.” Bisiness.
Time for more caffeine.
Friday I worked because I still haven’t been able to find someone willing to pay me infinity dollars for writing sarcastic things on the internet whilst drinking wine and listening to 1989. Weird, right? Anyway. After work I went grocery shopping because I was hosting my cousin’s bridal shower this weekend (more on that later). I went to my favorite discount grocery store where they only accept debit cards or food stamps and it was dark outside, but despite the twinge of fear lining my gut, I didn’t get murdered. Point for this lady.
Then my sweet accountant husband got home and presented me with what I really, truly, deep down to my bones thought was a sex toy: the Amazon Fire (tv) Stick. But I mean, come on, if you leave the “TV” part out Fire Stick totally sounds like something kinky for the bedroom.
After the disappointment of the device’s true use wore off, Andy showed me all of the magical shows and movies I could watch. Enter my new obsession with True Blood. Did you guys know this show was like really super good? Why did no one tell me? Where were you guys on that one? Granted, there are a lot of boobs and there’s a lot of blood so it’s not for everyone, but I’m willing to overlook those things because I’m nothing if not of the highest class.
Here is a picture of Fancy, Mav and I watching the show in bed. You’re welcome.
Saturday I prepped the food for Emily’s shower, cleaned my house (at least the parts that the guests would see) and OH YEAH I CUT OFF ALL MY HAIR.
And then I watched more True Blood because I’m only a little bit obsessed. And let me just say, I knew something was weird about Sam and I was totally right.
Emily’s bridal shower was on Sunday and if I’m being honest, I really only enjoy hosting parties because of all the food. Okay, I do also enjoy celebrating things and hanging out with awesome people, but the food is a major plus.
The menu included open-faced cucumber sandwich bites, grilled chicken skewers with tzatziki dipping sauce, Asian meatballs with an Asian dipping sauce (I’m not racist, it’s from the internet), yummy veggies, bite-sized quiches, cheese and grapes, Nana’s famous banana bread and my favorite lingerie shower-themed petit fours from the most delicious bakery in Fort Worth.
Feast your eyes. While you do that, I’ll be over here feasting on the leftovers.
And like I said, now it’s Monday and I’m counting down the hours until I can go home and work on my book watch more True Blood.
Wife in Training over and out.
